A run by the sea
A perfect early autumn morning: mist on the horizon, cheeky children chatting in the early light… and my weekly chance to get away.
Saturday mornings often see me squirelled away in the bedroom, pottering and pootling. I relish this undisturbed time alone amidst the comfort of my bedcovers, reading, writing, stretching. But today, today I felt the pull of the sea and with it, the pull to slip on my battered old trainers and move my body. Keeping a promise to myself to run along the beach just as soon as we moved (two months ago…). Of course, the voice of doubt was there, the all too real reservations of how battered my body has become over the years. Funny what two children will do to you! But today I didn’t care and I didn’t listen. I just wanted to feel some bloody fresh air, take some deep breathes, pop some music on and run. So I did (sort of. I used Couch to 5k so plenty of stop-start run-walk).
And then I went to the bakery, had a mocha and a brioche bun and all felt well again.
It’s good to be back :)
